Rosetta comet spacecraft put into 'Deep Sleep' before rendezvous

YSJ News's picture

Europe's Rosetta spacecraft has been put into a deep sleep for the next two and a half years and is presumed to be woken up at 1000 GMT on 20 January 2014, the only things that have been left running are heaters and an alarm clock.  When it wakes it will only be a few months away from its appointment with Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko out near the Planet Jupiter.
