Has science, on balance, helped or hindered world peace?

Helped: medicine, advances in crop engineering to combat hunger, water technology, security systems...

Hindered: weapons, rich/poor divide...

Care to elaborate?

I feel that it has done both. If we think of religion, it may have helped world peace, as it has made people question their religious beliefs, thus no war or fighting between contrasting beliefs. However still on religion, Christianity teaches peace: "Love thy Neighbour" and so on, so by making people question their Christian faith, may lead them to a path of bad behaviour, viloence and hoodie wearing!
