An animal that can survive in space?


A tardigrade (commonly known as a water bear) is a microscopic animal, and the first animal to survive space. They can survive anything - sub-zero temperatures, oxygen-deprived vacuums, and unrelenting solar winds.

Part Human, Part Machine

Prosthetics company Otto Block has developed a bionic hand that works by responding to nerve impulses, just like a normal hand. It can pick things up, pinch, and tie shoelaces.

The operation is performed by Professor Aszmann. Any remaining scar tissue is removed, and the prosthesis is fitted with a 'cushion' of transplanted tissue to support the bionic limb.
